- Preheat oven to 375°F.
- Peel onions and slice into thick 1/2-inch rings.
- Melt butter in a large skillet over medium heat. Add onions and cook for 5–7 minutes until softened.
- Season with salt, garlic powder, and oregano. Stir and cook for 1 more minute.
- Transfer onions to a greased baking dish and spread evenly.
- Sprinkle Italian blend, cheddar, and Parmesan cheese evenly over the top.
- Bake for 20–25 minutes until cheese is melted, bubbly, and lightly golden.
- Let cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Use Vidalia or other sweet onions for best results. Do not skip the stovetop sauté step — it ensures tender onions after baking. Cut thick slices to maintain texture. Freshly shredded cheese melts better than pre-packaged.
