Banana Bread Cinnamon Rolls

These banana bread cinnamon rolls are soft, fluffy, and filled with warm cinnamon sugar, made even better with sweet mashed bananas in the dough. Finished with a smooth vanilla glaze, they’re the perfect cozy breakfast or brunch treat.

Ingredients
  

  • 3 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 packet active dry yeast
  • 1/2 cup warm milk
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
  • 1/2 cup mashed ripe bananas
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 2 tbsp ground cinnamon
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup powdered sugar
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1/2 tsp vanilla extract

Method
 

  1. Combine warm milk and yeast in a bowl and let sit 5–10 minutes until foamy.
  2. Mix flour, sugar, and salt in a bowl. Add yeast mixture, melted butter, banana, and egg. Mix into a soft dough.
  3. Knead dough for 5–7 minutes until smooth. Place in greased bowl, cover, and let rise 1 hour.
  4. Mix brown sugar and cinnamon for filling.
  5. Roll dough into a rectangle. Spread softened butter and sprinkle cinnamon sugar evenly.
  6. Roll into a log and slice into 12 rolls.
  7. Place in greased baking dish, cover, and let rise 30 minutes.
  8. Bake at 350°F for 20–25 minutes until golden.
  9. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla. Drizzle over warm rolls.
  10. Serve warm and enjoy.

Notes

Use very ripe bananas for the best flavor and sweetness. Make sure milk is warm (not hot) to activate yeast properly. Do not rush the rising times for soft and fluffy rolls. Slice dough with dental floss for clean cuts.
