  • 1/4 cup balsamic vinegar
  • 2 tbsp olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • salt and black pepper to taste
  • 1 cup fresh mozzarella, sliced
  • 2 cups fresh tomatoes, sliced
  • 1 cup fresh basil leaves

Equipment

  • grill
  • mixing bowl
  • knife
  • cutting board
  • tongs

Method

  1. Whisk together balsamic vinegar, olive oil, garlic, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  2. Place steak in a dish or bag, coat with marinade, and refrigerate for at least 30 minutes or up to 4 hours.
  3. Preheat grill to medium-high heat and remove steak from marinade. Pat dry lightly.
  4. Grill steak for 5–7 minutes per side until desired doneness is reached.
  5. Transfer steak to a board and let rest for 5–10 minutes.
  6. Slice steak thinly against the grain.
  7. Arrange steak on a platter with mozzarella and tomatoes.
  8. Top with fresh basil and drizzle with extra balsamic if desired. Serve warm.

Notes

Do not skip marinating or resting the steak — both are essential for tenderness and flavor. Always slice against the grain for best texture. Pat steak dry before grilling for a better sear. Use fresh, high-quality mozzarella and ripe tomatoes for best results.
