Ingredients

  • 2 cups shredded or finely chopped cabbage
  • 1 medium onion, sliced into wedges or rings
  • 1 tbsp avocado oil or extra virgin olive oil
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp seasoning of choice (garlic powder, paprika, or all-purpose blend)
  • black pepper, to taste

Equipment

  • air fryer
  • mixing bowl
  • mixing spoon
  • knife
  • cutting board

Method

  1. Preheat the air fryer to 375°F.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, toss the cabbage and onion with the oil until evenly coated. Add salt, black pepper, and your chosen seasoning. Mix thoroughly.
  3. Arrange the seasoned vegetables in the air fryer basket in a single even layer. Work in batches if necessary and avoid overcrowding.
  4. Air fry for 10–12 minutes, flipping or tossing halfway through cooking.
  5. Cook until the cabbage is tender with lightly crispy caramelized edges and the onions are golden and softened.
  6. Transfer to a serving dish and serve immediately as a side dish, snack, or topping.

Notes

Cook the cabbage and onion in a single layer for the best caramelization. Avoid overcrowding the air fryer basket or the vegetables will steam instead of crisp. Toss halfway through cooking for even browning. A splash of lemon juice or apple cider vinegar after cooking adds extra brightness.
